New charging data partnership with Smartcar

30.04.2026

Volkswagen Group Info Services AG welcomes Smartcar as a new partner for its charging solutions Charging Data and Charging Control. Smartcar integrates the official APIs for vehicle charging status and control data across six Volkswagen Group brands. This extends its connected vehicle platform for energy and charging companies in more than 20 European markets.

Through one API and one consent flow, Smartcar customers access state of charge, range and charging status. They can also start, stop and schedule charging remotely via driver-approved profiles. This enables smart charging, energy management and grid services such as demand response and load balancing. Drivers approve the connection themselves and can revoke it at any time.

Together, Volkswagen Group Info Services AG and Smartcar make EV charging smarter and more cost-efficient. This applies to electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles from Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Audi, SEAT, CUPRA and ŠKODA.
